The map was confiscated from them during their first year, before Ron got there.

However, we know that Ron inherited ‘Scabbers’ from Percy, which means they DID see some random dude sleeping in Percy’s bed every night.

This kind of explains a lot of the implied comments they made about Percy and Crouch or Percy and Fudge in later years…
